CVE Monsters

The shadow creatures manifested by Angra Mainyu to infect and corrupt the realms.

CVE Monsters

CVE Monsters (often simply called CVEs) are parasitic entities of pure shadow. They are the primary weapons of Angra Mainyu, manifested to exploit vulnerabilities in the structure of the world, whether in the Black Forest or the divine realm of Asgard.

Classification of the Threat

The Commandos have identified three distinct types of CVE monsters:

  1. Type 1 (Shadowlings): Beings of pure shadow that can only exist in the absence of light. They are neutralized instantly when exposed to the Blue Blade or powerful artificial light.
  2. Type 2 (Solidified Demons): Shadows that have gained enough power to solidify their forms. They can be fought with normal weapons but are incredibly resilient and fast.
  3. Type 3 (Host Infestations): The most dangerous type. These CVEs hijack the bodies of civilians or animals, hiding their malicious intent until it is too late. Detecting them requires specialized "life-force" sensing.

Shadowlings usually solidify (turn into Type 2) when exposed to light, as they try to protect themselves from it. This is why the Commandos use the Blue Blade, and lanterns, to fight them. However, solidified demons can still be dangerous, as they are more aggressive and can attack with physical force.

Behavior

CVEs are not mindless beasts; they act with a unified purpose to spread corruption. They seek out "weak points"—misconfigurations in the natural order or cracks in a realm's defense—to gain a foothold. Once established, they begin to "whisper," calling more of their kind through the breach.

Trivia (Meta)
