Angra Mainyu is the primary source of malice in the universe and the master of the shadow monsters known as CVEs. For centuries, he was held prisoner in the depths of castle Schattenburg, his power contained by ancient seals.
The Source of Corruption
Angra Mainyu does not fight with swords or shields; his power lies in corruption and decay. He whispers into the minds of the vulnerable, promising power or knowledge in exchange for a foothold in their reality. From the darkness of his prison, he manifests the CVE creatures—beings of pure shadow that seek to infect and mutate everything they touch.
History
In 1865, his influence began to leak through the walls of Schattenburg, triggering the first major outbreak in the Black Forest. He manipulated Jack the Miner into aiding his manifestation, nearly succeeding in breaking his chains.
In the final confrontation at the castle, Angra Mainyu faced Gord in a legendary battle. Although he was severely wounded by her Blue Blade, he managed to break the ancient seals and escape into the shadows, leaving his physical prison behind.
His escape marked a turning point in the lore, as his essence eventually manifested in Asgard, where he orchestrated a new invasion to seize the divine infrastructure of the gods.
