Evelyn goes to the mines to meet Jack. It's a foggy day and the daylight is dim. She walks cautiously, her boots make soft thuds on the damp ground.
She arrives to the mine entrance, where Jack has left a note for her. It says "for Evelyn" on the front, and it's attached to the wooden door frame with a rusty nail. Evelyn takes the note and opens it.
Inside, she finds a message from Jack:
"Evelyn, I had to leave urgently. Meet me in Hinterdorf on 22nd of December, at noon."
It's signed "Jack".
She hears Carl's voice from inside the mine, but leaves before Carl sees her.
On the way to Hinterdorf, she sees Gord and Rothütle approaching from the opposite direction. She tells them that Jack is not there and will be in Hinterdorf in two days.
As they part ways, Gord whispers to Evelyn, "Meet me at the castle tomorrow."
